Cheshire Asbestos Victims Support Group / Merseyside Asbestos Victims Support
Event: The Merseyside and Cheshire Asbestos Victims Support Groups are jointly hosting this year’s Action Mesothelioma Day again. Dove release in memory of all those victims lost to mesothelioma will be held at 12 noon.
Speakers: Mr Paul Rowan, Former MP for Rochdale and now Chairman of for the Asbestos in Schools Group, Mr. John Tootle, Lecturer in Construction at
Liverpool Community College and Dr. Chris Warburton, Consultant Respiratory Physician.

Derbyshire Asbestos Support Team
Event: Derbyshire Asbestos Support Team are holding an event;
- To raise awareness about the dangers of exposure to asbestos.
- To try to prevent future ill-health and misery caused by asbestos related cancer – Mesothelioma
- To raise awareness that Mesothelioma can be caused by low level exposure to asbestos
- To inform the general public that asbestos may be contained in our public buildings and schools

Speakers from DAST and the major Trade Unions including the Fire Brigade’s Union, UNITE. Trade union banners “A Reflection of the Celebration of Life” message trees. Health and safety information. Models and simulated asbestos products. This year we are asking for messages on leaves that reflect on the celebration of life. Money raised will be donated to Mesothelioma UK – National Helpline to support victims of Mesothelioma and the Mick Knighton Mesothelioma Research Fund. Greater Manchester Asbestos Victims Support Group
Event: Release of Sponsored Doves at 12.30pm in Lincoln Square (Brazennose Street Opposite Manchester Town Hall) in memory of all those who have died from mesothelioma.

The June Hancock Mesothelioma Research Fund is delighted to invite you to “meet the experts” on AMD
This FREE event will enable Mesothelioma sufferers, their families and health and social care professionals working in the field to meet specialists in the treatment of Mesothelioma, researchers investigating the disease, and experts in the legal assistance available to sufferers, along with representatives from the June Hancock Mesothelioma Research Fun (JHMRF). The day will have an informal, round table style, allowing attendees the opportunity to meet these experts, hear about their work and ask questions of them. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Respiratory physicians and oncologists who treat people with mesothelioma and solicitors, and other legal experts, who deal with mesothelioma cases, will also be present. There will be poster displays of research and related topics. Local support groups will also be on hand to talk to people and provide information about their membership and activities.

Mick Knighton Mesothelioma Research Fund
MKMRF is holding a memorial service on Friday 1st July at 11.00am at St Nicholas Cathedral in Newcastle. The service is for all who have lost their lives to asbestos related disease and Mesothelioma in particular and will be followed by sponsored dove release in their memory. Action Mesothelioma Day at St Nicholas Cathedral continues with a Seminar between 1.30pm and 3.30pm.
Speakers: Michael Lees on Asbestos in Schools, along with health and legal professionals all experts in the field of Mesothelioma.
To book a place at the seminar or make a donation in memory of a loved one, light lunch will be available for those who register to attend the seminar. Everyone is welcome to both events

Sheffield and Rotherham Asbestos Group
Event: SARAG will be a meeting to mark Mesothelioma Day at Minster Yard, Rotherham Minster, All Saints Square, Rotherham S60 1PU to bring attention to the dangers of low level exposure, particularly in schools.
Speakers to be confirmed include the Mayor of Rotherham, Rotherham MP’s, South Yorkshire MEP, trades union representatives.
Dedications from friends and relatives – a reading of all the names of people who have been killed by mesothelioma, asbestos lung cancer and asbestos-related diseases in South Yorkshire and North Nottinghamshire.
Following the dedications, people will be able to light a remembrance candle. Light refreshment afterwards. All donations raised will go to asbestos-related disease research.

South West Mesothelioma Group – Plymouth Mesothelioma Action Day event
Event: A short gathering at the memorial tree at Saltram House, Plympton, where if you wish you can lay a single stemmed flower
tribute for the day and have a cream tea in the courtyard cafe. Information will be available on the day from local Mesothelioma Specialist Nurse,
Mesothelioma UK, HSE, British Lung Foundation and other relevant organisations. Also there will be films about mesothelioma to view if you wish.

Asbestos Action Tayside
Asbestos Action Tayside is holding a patients and carers day in the Hilton Hotel, Dundee on Friday 1st July. A remembrance candle will be lit for the 44 members of Asbestos Action Tayside who lost their fight against mesothelioma and other asbestos related diseases last year.
Speakers include a respiratory consultant, oncologist, a psychologist from the Maggie’s cancer care centres and a solicitor. Mesothelioma sufferers and their families / friends are welcome to come along and invitations will automatically be sent to members of
Lunch will be served.
