Exercise classes in Saffron Walden
Participants in a local exercise class are pictured here with their instructor, Paul Goddard. Paul was trained through the BLF Active programme and now runs maintenance classes at the Lord Butler Leisure Centre for patients who have completed a pulmonary rehabilitation course. BE Saffron Walden member Brian Page is pictured at the centre back. It's great to hear that so many people have found Paul's classes so beneficial.
Saffron Walden Carnival
This July, Breathe Easy Saffron Walden took part in the Saffron Walden Carnival! They decorated their float with flags, balloons and posters to raise awareness of lung disease. Carole dressed up as Florence Nightingale, whilst Brian sat on a motorised scooter on the back of the float and Tommy pretended to be a patient in bed!
As you can see from the photo, some members of the group also walked alongside the float with collection buckets to raise some funds.
Breathe Easy Week
Breathe Easy Saffron Walden celebrated Breathe Easy Week by holding a cake sale and tombola in the local market square on Tuesday 14th June.
All the cakes disappeared quickly and only a few tombola prizes were left at the end of the day. £238.22 was raised in total!
The group also did a fantastic job raising awareness of Sleep Apnoea and asked people to fill in questionnaires about the condition.
A representative from the Walden Local newspaper came along to take a photograph.

World COPD Day
BE Saffron Walden had an awareness stand at Saffron Walden Community Hospital to raise awareness of COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) as well as giving out information. 
The group also had a cake stall and tombola - no one managed to leave the hospital without thinking about their lungs and having a go on the tombola! It was a great day!
And to top it all off, the group raised a very impressive £300!
Group Donate £150 to the BLF
In the photo opposite, the group presented a cheque for £150.00 to Clair Evans, Development Officer for the East of England, for the work of the British Lung Foundation.
