Event news -

Wiltshire Farm Foods

came to Clevedon to show their range of pre-packed foodwiltshire farm foods in April. Group members were given hot samples of the WWF range to try along with a talk about the production of the foods, the portion sizes and delivery of the meals etc. WFF is available for anyone it is not just for those who are elderly or housebound and from the taste testing session we all had at the group meeting, they can rest assured everyone was well impressed.

Thanks to the ladies for an enjoyable afternoon of nibbling!

Dr John Harvey visited the group to give one final talk to group members from North Bristol, Bristol, Clevedon and Weston super Mare Breathe Easy Groups on 22nd March 2012. The group had the opportunity to ask questions of Dr Harvey and gain insight into areas they were lacking in knowledge. It was a good turn out on the day and 40+ group members and other individuals attended to hear the talk.

Special thanks were given from Christine Reid on behalf of BLF and Nick Pennycott ex group chair thanked Dr Harvey for all his support over the years on behalf of patients and Breathe Easy supporters. See photograph below.

Meetings and activities in 2012

Dr Harvey Clevedon

Wiltshire Farm Foods - Sarah Parslow will be visiting the group in place of the December 2011 meeting when she was unable to attend due to a broken leg

May 2012

Nick Thornely - back by popular demand, talking on the Olympics

Our group is developing in a very positive way, new members continually attending, we regularly enjoy light hearted quizzes, and various activities during meeting along with the monthly speaker which alternates from a medical speaker one month to other interesting topical speakers throughout the year.

June 2012

Air Liquide (Oxygen Company) will be speaking at the meeting this month. Get your questions and answers ready!

July 2012

The Community Police will speak at this meeting to update local people about the community services and give an overview on how they manage policing in the current climate.

August 2012

St John's Ambulance contact Judith Goldsmith will be giving a talk and demonstrtaion at this meeting. Her friend "Annie" with whom anyone who has done a First Aid course will know, will be helping Judith explain the basics of Emergency First Aid and how Carers can obtain support. As individuals with a lung condition often take care of their own health this will be an interesting talk.

Can You Help

If anyone would like to offer their time to help the committee with a committee role or as a volunteer with the committee, no qualifications needed, and just a few hours each month is all the commitment required. Perhaps you have some good contacts that would be willing to give a talk to the group or you have an outgoing personality and would be happy to welcome members at the meetings. You may not have a lung condition, but may have a few hours to offer in your local area. Why not give us a call.
