More about the group

This is a new group that covers the North side of Bristol including surrounding areas of Henbury, Shirehampton, Filton, Henleaze, Westbury on Trym, Horfield, Bishopston and Lockleaze.

New members welcome to come along to meetings.

**Stop Press** Linda, who helps organise the group meetings, has arranged for a FREE four week course for anyone interested in learning more about complementary therapy. This starts on 8 May. To find out more, please ring Linda on 07837 256 708.

9th January – catching up after Christmas

13th February – Susanna Barr, Respiratory Physiotherapist

12th March – Managing your condition, Respiratory OT

19th April - This meeting was not going to take place this month due to it being Easter, however this has now changed due to large attendance figures wishing to have the meeting.

Demonstration of hand massages.

14th May – respiratory Team Southmead Hospital

11th June – Mike Rossdale, GP with special interest in Respiratory Medicine

9th July – Anne Doughty, North Bristol Advice Centre

August -

News Update - March 27th 2012

Waitrose in Henleaze Bristol have made BLF Breathe Easy North Bristol the proud recipiants of funds totalling £283.00 from the Waitrose community fund. The group would like to thank Waitrose for the support they have given to this new group for people affected by lung conditions, these funds will help support people in the locally.

We welcome everyone affected by a lung condition – including carers. Come along and enjoy a chat and a cuppa – and learn more about how to manage your lung condition.

Better Breathing Class

Easton Leisure Centre Thrissell Street, BS5 0SW Thursdays: 3-4pm. Price: £3.50

This new exercise session is for people with a lung condition who want to continue exercising after pulmonary rehabilitation.

This class is part of the British Lung Foundation Active Scheme and is run on a referral basis.

Anyone who wants to join the session should check with their GP or pulmonary nurse before doing so and be referred to Szymon.

Benefits of exercise for people with lung disease:

  • Reduced breathlessness
  • Increased ability to do daily activities
  • Improved mood
  • Improved energy levels
