Meeting format information for those who would like to know more about our group:
Meetings are at 2pm for 2.30pm and there is usually a cup of tea available during that time. The 'Bring & Buy' table is open almost immediately and again later in the meeting for members to browse through what is on offer. There is always a raffle for which the tickets cost 50p a strip or 3 strips for £1.
After a brief introduction the guest speaker is on first with an opportunity for members to ask questions at the end. There follows 'housekeeping' announcements, raffle, tea and cake.
Should members have difficulty getting to a meeting then the Transport Secretary will attempt to arrange a lift as long as sufficient notice is given.
The group's display board is on view together with BLF leaflets and booklets for members to take. This is especially important for new members and when new leaflets are published. Membership packs are also available for new members and these contain a membership form to join the group.
Member news
Kate Hill group secretary reached a milestone this autumn and here is her description of the eventful day below.
It was a major get together of a lot of my vast family and smaller lot of friends to mark the fact that I had actually reached 60.
I had told them from the outset that I didn't want presents but if they wanted to mark the occasion would they donate to Breathe Easy. I still got some presents (some of which went to the Bring and Buy table - well microwaveable slippers with no microwave!) and donations of £238 for Breathe Easy. It was a very happy day despite starting out with pouring rain, the sun came out in the afternoon and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
Kate
Congratulations Kate, BLF Breathe Easy have been very fortunate to benefit from your birthday.
Can You Help ?
The group would welcome more help in a number of areas.
A Minutes Secretary to attend committee meetings, take the minutes, type them up and distribute them to committee members by email or post. At present this job is undertaken by the Treasurer and it would be a relief to share the load.
Publicity Secretary to use local media to provide maximum publicity for the Breathe Easy group and the BLF.
Welcome Host to welcome people attending monthly meetings particularly prospective new members.
