January - Information about how to give First Aid was well received from Judith Goldsmith who is based at the Bedminster branch of St Johns Ambulance. The group had the added bonus of meeting "Annie" who is always the star of the show at First Aid training events.

Group membership Update
The group would like to thank Colin Golding for all the support he has given as a committee member and booking speakers for the meetings. Unfortunately Colin has now stood down in this role as his wife Lilyan has been very unwell in recent months. We wish them both well and hope to see them from time to time, health permitting.
David Longman husband of group treaserer Sandra has taken on the role of finding speakers for the group. Welcome to the committee David!
Behind the scenes and what's happens at the meetings
Shane, the group chair starts the meeting by welcoming members and reading out the minutes of the last meeting, and any other information that need to be conveyed. .JPG)
Sandra is the group secretary who does a monthly newsletter which members receive at the meeting.
Other tasks Sandra does is keeping the members database updated for BLF and sending letters of thanks for donations and to speakers, she is the main contact for the group, having a key role to play on the day of the meeting as well as for any new members to the group.
Sandra is known as the group cake maker and bakes some fantastic cakes as anyone from the group will tell you being on the receiving end of some of them.
At meetings the group usually have a speaker which committee member Colin sources for the group.
Terry, Sandra's husband is also a committee member and helps out with the beverages at the meetings.
Most months the group have a Raffle to help to pay for the hire costs of the room.
If no speaker has been sourced or the group are let down from a pre-booked speaker, they have a quiz.
Regular dates include us having an outing in the summer and a Christmas meal in December. In March they have our Annual General Meeting (AGM)for the group members to decide who holds committee roles. In recent years all the committee members have been reelected.
The December meeting usually heralds a party get together, when everyone brings some nibbles.
The group make an annual donation back to the BLF from the funds raised throughout the year.
