Meetings and Events in 2012

BLF Active
Halifax BLF Active classes have now been running for 8 weeks and membership is gradually increasing. The Pulmonary Rehabilitation department are referring patients to the classes after they have completed an 8 week course. The BLF Active gives them an opportunity to continue exercising in a safe, friendly environment.

BE Halifax 01Breathe Easy Halifax
Breathe Easy Halifax donated the fantastic sum of £700 to the BLF choosing to support Research and the BLF nurses. Group members have worked extremely hard raising funds through raffles, tombola’s and fundraising stalls during the year. Jayne Towne BLF, Nurse and representative for the Charity agreed to accept the cheque on behalf of the BLF. A photographer from the local paper came along for the presentation which created some great publicity and raised the profile of the group.

More about the group

Costume jewellery by Debbie Armitage

Debbie has Pulmonary Fibrosis and after becoming increasingly housebound She was looking for something to fill her time. Always been interested in crafts but never tried making jewellery before Debbie gets such pleasure from designing and making jewellery, it has proven itself to be a wonderful distraction.

Debbie loves working with semi-precious gemstones such as Amethyst, Turquoise and Quartz to mention but a few but equally, there are so many wonderful manufactured beads to choose from – its like being in a ‘sweetie shop’.

John, Debbie’s husband encouraged her to start a website to showcase the jewellery and although this took a little time to develop, again it keeps her busy photographing the pieces, cataloguing them and updating her website. After selling pieces mainly to friends and colleagues the website is beginning to gain a little momentum.

For Debbie, raising money for the BLF is ‘icing on the cake’ and she is delighted to have raised £325 for the BLF to date.
