BOFAA Winner
Congratulations to BE Sutton Coldfield, who have received a 2010-11 Breath of Fresh Air Award for Outstanding Contributions to BLF Projects. The group donated £1,465 towards research projects.
Garden Party 2011
In August Breathe Easy Sutton Coldfield held their annual garden party. Members of the Breathe Easy group worked extremely hard to organise the cream teas and fundraising stands. The event raised a fantastic £260.
Breathe Easy Week 2011
Members of BE Sutton Coldfield were out in their pyjamas for Breathe Easy
Week, to raise awareness about obstructive sleep apnoea. Volunteers collected over 80 completed Big Sleep Surveys and talked to shoppers at The Mall in Sutton Coldfield about lung conditions and the Breathe Easy support network. Members were joined by Becky Gowers and Catie Harvey from the British Lung Foundation.
Awareness stand
BE Sutton Coldfield, joined by Becky Gowers from the BLF Midlands Office, held an awareness stand in The Mall Shopping Centre, Sutton Coldfield, where they spoke to over 100 people about the work of the BLF, the
activities of the Breathe Easy group and the launch of the Children’s Charter. The local Respiratory Nurses were on hand to carry out lung function tests, and in total 42 people were tested. A local carers’ organisation were holding a meeting in a nearby building and the group were able to provide them with leaflets about Breathe Easy for their members.
