Legacies

When you make a will, not only do you have the chance to provide for your loved ones but you can also help create a better future for those living with a lung condition. For many, leaving a legacy is the only time they will be able to give a substantial gift to charity, much more than they could ever afford during their lifetime.

This aspect of donating is crucial - in some cases legacy gifts have funded entire research projects.

Why I’m leaving the British Lung Foundation a Legacy…

Picture of Val and Nigel Grieve

"All my childhood memories of my father were of him suffering terrible asthma and when I was nine he died of the condition. Years later I married Nigel. He too had asthma and then developed lung cancer. The diseased lung was removed and after a ten year respite he developed a growth in his remaining lung. I nursed him at home for ten months. He gradually became weaker and died. From this you can understand why I have chosen to leave a legacy to the British Lung Foundation.

Lung disease has greatly affected my life. From childhood, to this day, I have been surrounded by people with one form of lung disease or another. So when I die, and after the grandchildren have been taken care of, the British Lung Foundation will not be forgotten." - Val Grieve
