North Regional Committee

NEW APPOINTMENTS TO BLF NORTH REGIONAL COMMITTEE
We are delighted to welcome Mr David Bushby, Ms Eve Cowdell and Mr George Arthur Creasey to the committee who represent Breathe Easy groups and BLF Members in the North Region.

Each of the 5 BLF England regions, Wales and Scotland & N Ireland has a Regional/National Committee of volunteers that meet regularly throughout the year to help support BLF staff to plan and deliver the objectives of the charity according to the BLF’s corporate plan. Volunteers come from all walks of life and professions and all have an interest in helping to promote the BLF to a wider audience and strengthen our voice. In the North Region (North East and Yorkshire & Humberside) the Committee has 26 members from local Breathe Easy groups, respiratory physicians and nurses (adult and children’s services), tobacco control and business. They meet 3-4 times a year in York and travel expenses are reimbursed.

Chairman’s Corner

“The North Region Committee met in February to discuss future plans for the BLF's work in the region. Our Respiratory Nurse Specialists on the committee are currently helping to map respiratory services across the region which will be extremely valuable. Burrinder Grewal joined the committee last year, and is helping us plan public health campaigns with PCTs around the region – we’re in discussion with Leeds PCT, Barnsley PCT and NHS South of Tyne & Wear. The committee is also keen to develop our relationships with regional tobacco control work and look at Children's respiratory service development. Plenty to do and we appreciate all the support provided by the committee.”
