London and the South is the largest region geographically in England and covers a population of 20.7 million people. It covers the four Strategic Health Authorities of London, the East of England, South Central and the South East Coast. The region was formed in the summer of 2004 and covers 62 Primary Care Trusts and 2.7 million people affected by lung disease.
The BLF in the region has 3 main purposes to (1) support all people with a lung condition and their carers (via the Breathe Easy support network), (2) raise awareness about lung disease with the local community including health professionals, general public and health representatives and (3) work collaboratively with primary care and voluntary organisations to deliver best practice in health care and services.
The region is also home to many great fundraising and awareness events such as the London Marathon, Essex Fun Run, British Lung Foundation Golf Day, BLF Conferences, World COPD Day events and other smaller events organised by local Breathe Easy groups.
The BLF provides self help support groups (Breathe Easy groups) for people living with a lung condition, their family and carers. Click here for more information.
