Nurse Advisor

Part Time 21 hours per week

Salary: £27,690 pro rata

Location: Liverpool

The British Lung Foundation Helpline offers support, advice and guidance to anyone affected by a lung condition – and is a vital part of the support we offer. Last year the Helpline supported over 6000 people. The service is staffed by a variety of specialist staff including Helpline Officers, Specialist Advisers, counsellors and respiratory nurses. All team members deal with a broad range of issues affecting people with lung conditions, in addition to enquiries relevant to their area of knowledge.

The Helpline team provide a “holistic” approach to supporting callers. In addition to respiratory information and advice we also provide advice on Welfare Benefits, and using our current information resources, also offer advice in other Social Welfare law areas e.g. employment, housing, community care, consumer etc.

We are looking for a nurse adviser to join the established team. Your role will be to answer calls, emails and letters on a wide range of respiratory conditions and issues and from the whole range of people affected by a lung condition, including partners, parents and other family members. Over 70% of calls to the Helpline concern COPD, asthma, ILD, and bronchiectasis – 12% are from people with no diagnosed condition and 2% are from parents.

This is a varied and interesting role that is ideal for someone who wants to use their knowledge away from an NHS setting.
