We work across the whole of Scotland and Northern Ireland from our offices in Glasgow and Coleraine. Our team covers a wide range of issues – overseeing delivery of patient services at national and local level, supporting BLF Breathe Easy support groups across the country, providing information and advice to members of the public, developing education and information programmes to promote better lung health across all ages. If you have a question about lung health or you’re worried about your breathing or that of a loved one, please contact us or the BLF Helpline. We will usually have the information you need within our team. If not, we’ll consult our experts within the BLF or use our links with medical specialists to find the information you need. That’s the promise we make to you.
We support the network of BLF Breathe Easy support groups across Scotland and Northern Ireland. These groups meet in the local community and provide a place for people affected by lung disease to come together to support each other and ensure that the right services are available within their area. In recent years BLF Breathe Easy groups have played a key role in awareness-raising campaigns across the country and provide the most powerful and extensive source of respiratory ‘patient and carer voices’ in the UK.
We’re constantly striving to increase the profile of lung health with government, politicians and key public sector stakeholders. Increased awareness and improved education will play a key role in ensuring that future generations enjoy better lung health. But it’s equally important that the NHS and social services are always there to support those people who are affected by lung disease on a daily basis. So we work to ensure that the right services are available to all people, wherever they live in Scotland and Northern Ireland. It’s important that you know your rights and the services that you should be able to access. We’re here to advise on the level of treatment and ongoing support that you should receive from public services. And to campaign and lobby on your behalf when the service you receive falls short of national standards.
